Remember when I told you all we were returning to our old routine? It doesn't seem that way, does it? Normal is the one thing we have NOT seen! It's been picture day and fire drills and bus evacuation. All these constant interruptions are only adding to my frustration. Well, today will be no different. We are going to have some guests. You may be wondering why they're here. What's the object of their quest? They're SPIES! It's pure and simple. Oh, they may LOOK innocent enough. They'll smile and act real friendly, but later, it gets rough. They'll watch and ask some questions. The may even jot down a note. Then, after you're gone for the day, they interrogate me about what they wrote. "Why don't you yell more often?" "Don't the kids need more to do?" "Stop your sniveling, Mr. Mac! You can cry after we're through!" "Get a haircut! Shine your shoes! You need more posters on your wall!" "Why in the world did you let your students work in the hall?" I tell you guys, it's brutal! For hours they probe and pick. Last time, before they finished, they poked me with a stick! Who would send these spies to us? Our enemies from afar? No it's far more sinister than that. Our school district, that's who they are! Of course you know I'm joking (just in case they're reading this). I'm sure today's visit will be happiness and bliss. They will come in and before you know it, the visit will be in the past. And it will just be a coincidence if tomorrow, I'm in a cast or on crutches with a big, black eye or a missing tooth. I'm looking forward to their visit, if you want to know the truth. Yeah, that's right. It's a good thing. I'm happy, not afraid. When they see how good you are, man, I'll have it made! So do your Morning Work today. You can approach their visit without fear. But, just in case, have you ever heard the phrase "The walls have ears?"
