Yesterday's FCAT practice test was quite a surprise. Some of the questions that you asked certainly opened my eyes! There were not any questions that were unfamiliar or new, but you've forgotten some things, which is why we'll review. When the dividend was smaller than the divisor, a panicked look came to your face. But the problem was quite easy, when you added a decimal place. Perimeter and area seemed confusing (judging by the way that you frowned). Area is the square units that fill an object, perimeter is the length around. You had to scale an object larger, drawing it on a grid. You may not remember doing this before, but rest assured, you did. There were patterns and graphs and division. There were problems that dealt with volume. And we need to practice them all, based on what happened yesterday in this room. Your Morning Work has questions for you to review and it will help you prepare. You can use your FCAT Journal and our Bulletin Board, too. After all, that's why they are there. Let's not forget our time in Math class. There, we'll review some more. Then, in a month, when the FCAT is here, you'll say "Hey! I've done these problems before!"
