The Super Bowl was played last night, in weather that was bad.

When Colts fans saw the pre game forecast, they started feeling sad.

They thought that Indy could not play well in the pouring rain.

But when the night was over, who had won the game?

The Colts spent the whole year preparing and practicing for that day.

And when it finally did arrive, no storm could chase them away.

No rain or storm or even Bears, stopped them from what they wanted to do.

The Colts and the Super Bowl are a good metaphor, for the FCAT test and you.

Your Morning Work is like their practice. Their games are like your tests.

Even if there IS another one next week, you still should do your best.

The Benchmark tests are like the playoffs; another step along the way.

And the FCAT tests are like the Super Bowl; a year of work leads to that day.

So when your Super Bowl is here (in thirteen days, or so)

it will be YOUR turn to respond; it will be YOUR turn to show

how hard you've worked. How much you've learned. How well that you prepared.

And like the Indianapolis Colts, you should be confident, not scared.

If the conditions are not perfect, just like they weren't last night.

If you're a little grumpy, or you just do not feel right.

That's OK. It doesn't matter. It shouldn't cause you pain.

Last night some saw a downpour, the Colts just saw a little rain.

They didn't let ANYTHING stop them from accomplishing their goal.

Nothing could stand in their way. They were in control.

And so are you. So let's take this time we have before FCAT,

to practice and fine-tune OUR game; so we'll have it all down pat.

The Super Bowl and the FCAT are similar in another way, it would appear.

You do the very best you can, right now, then start preparing for next year!
