Today is an important day. Maybe the most important day of all.

The polls are set up every where; in churches and meeting halls.

They stand in line, patiently, waiting to make their selection.

It's November, once again, and time for an election!

As we study in our History books about our nation's start,

I hope you will remember "why", and when you're older do something smart;

VOTE. It's a privilege and a right and an obligation

to everyone who came before. To those who created and defend this nation.

There's one small fact about the U.S., I hope sounds strange to you;

of all the people allowed to vote, less than half of them do!

People have fought and people have died. Some are doing so today.

And many of their countrymen throw what they're fighting for away!

If you take away JUST ONE THING, from your time with me

take this: Participate in your democracy!

That's it. No jokes or puns. Just this simple plea

When your time comes, and you can vote, do it proudly.
