Every time kids get days off, for storms or just vacation teachers make them write about it, to "further their education." Well, today's a little different, so don't you start to whine. Instead of reading about your day, I'll tell you all about mine. Up and down the ladder, as I installed our plywood shutters. At the store, I wrestled a little old lady for the last jar of peanut butter. I went to get gas and waited in line for hour after hour. But, they ran out. So Mr. Mac had no emergency power. Back home I went, and every five minutes, I checked the Weather Channel. I found out the storm wouldn't be all that bad right as I put up the last storm panel. But, onward I continued. (You can never be too sure) I kept working 'till I had doors and windows all secure. Then the darkness descended on us. Our house was sealed up like a tomb. I gathered all my belongings, and hid in the bathroom. "Come on, hurricane! Bring it on!" I screamed into the night. But I need not be so scared. There was no storm in sight! Hurricane Ernesto sputtered and he fizzled. Instead of torrential downpours, it really sort of drizzled. So what to do on a storm day, when the storm does not arrive? I could hop into my car and go out for a drive. But I had a better notion, a better thing to do. I spent the whole day making up Morning Work for you! You get your handhelds back today, and you've work that must be done. Why you have three days of Morning Math to do, not just merely one! You have Morning Math from Tuesday and Wednesday and today. Morning Math is not Ernesto, it won't just fade away! There's three days of Grammar Giggles, too. Not just one, or two, but three! When you're done, you may STILL have to write, about your day away from me! The real problem with these storm days, when we send you home Schoolwork isn't cancelled, it merely is postponed!
