When you read, do you ever wonder, what the author tried to do?

What was the writer's message? What were they trying to tell you?

What IS the author's purpose? Why did they write that tale?

Were they trying to entertain you? Or trying to make a sale?

Was there a lesson to be learned? Information to understand?

It's important for you, to be able to tell, why the author took pen in hand.

Maybe it was to entertain. Or to inform. Or to persuade.

Good readers can tell the difference (especially if they want a good grade)!
