I don't know about you, but I am beat!

But, wasn't yesterday a treat?

For all those kids who were not here,

I'll review the "funnest" day of the year.

The clowns and magic show were cool.

That's the first I've seen an ape at school!

Juggling flaming swords was quite a trick.

And helicopter rides! (Wish I hadn't gotten sick).

The tightrope act was quite bizarre.

The kids got to drive an Indy car!

There was laughter, free money, and fun for all.

It was like there was no school at all!

All in all, the day was swell.

Not ONCE did we hear Mr. Mac yell!

Well, now you know this tale's not true.

If he didn't yell, then the sky's not blue!

The simple truth? There was no circus.

All Mr. Mac did was work and work us!

Hope you had fun while you were away.

Now back to Morning Work, today.

You have a Spelling test this morn and Math this afternoon.

Your Social Studies test will also come. very, very soon.

The Science question you should know, if you've read the book.

And a Writing prompt telling about the day off that you took.

To be honest, yesterday wasn't all that bad.

But when all the kids are not here, Mr. Mac is sad.

So if you're thinking of taking another day off, listen to my advice.

Don't. 'Cause for every kid that's gone, he yells at another kid twice!
